Seed Saving Basics and Planning Your Garden

This event will begin with an introduction on the impacts of stormwater and poor soils on the health of the watershed. This will be followed by a presentation by Cleveland Seed Bank on soil friendly methods of collecting seeds and planning an organic garden. Participants will receive FREE seeds and the first twelve attendees will receive a special seed saver guide.

Rain Barrel Workshop
When: September 22, 2015
Time: 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm
Location: Macedonia City Hall (9691 Valley View Road, Macedonia, Ohio 44056)
Rain barrels help you capture rainwater for a later use. This water is better for your garden than tapwater, and helps to reduce the amount of stormwater that is leaving your property, protecting water quality.
A complete rain barrel system is only $50! Complete system includes: a white 55 gallon barrel, downspout diverter, and spigot. Barrel can be painted. Participants will be instructed on how to put together their rain barrel at the workshop. Assistance and tools are provided.
Participants MUST pre-register and pay for the barrels by September 15, 2015 to reserve a spot and a barrel.

This year’s festival, in collaboration with University Hospital Ahuja Medical Center, is focused on celebrating healthy watersheds for healthy communities. Healthy Watersheds: the event will include a special tour of the environmentally friendly practices at the medical center. Healthy Communities: University Hospital will also be offering FREE health screenings.
